Today I visited Luke Air Force Base with one of my men. We were shopping the PX for camera equipment. Active bases are very impressive. This base trains jet pilots who are nearing readiness and the sound of F16s is almost deafening. There is evidence that many retired military folks save money on groceries, gifts and toys, and pharmacy.
The base has been encroached by the western expansion of the city, but still seemed to have great flying space. What struck my camera was the huge fields of flowers that are growing around the base.
